This will enable binaural 3D positional audio for minecraft.
You must use headphones to get the effect! Only 48kHz sampling rate and stereo supported, set this in Windows Audio Control Panel.
If the positioning is not accurate, you can change the "default-hrtf=" setting in "alsoft.ini" to one that best matches your ears by following this guide

Step 1: Go to your Minecraft\versions folder (%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions).
Step 2: Go into the folder for the version of Minecraft you are running. (Your version is the number on the bottom left of the minecraft menu screen)
Step 3: Go into the natives folder.
Step 4: Overwrite the OpenAL32.dll and OpenAL64.dll files using the ones in the minecraft-3Daudio-natives.zip.
Step 5: Extract the OpenAL-soft-settings.zip to: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming
